Bruins take Maui

BruinSportsReport.com UCLA showed America that its return to elite status in the world of college basketball won't be just a temporary thing as the Bruins outclassed the field at the 24th annual Maui Invitational. Ben Howland and company dominated an inferior Georgia Tech team in the tournament championship game on Wednesday evening, 88-73, behind Maui MVP Darren Collison who gave another terrific performance, completing a brilliant three day run with a 15 point, seven assist effort in the finale.
UCLA seemed to be out of sink as the game began, falling behind by four early, and not scoring in the contest's first three and a half minutes. However, once the Bruins got their legs under them and settled into their traditional half court sets, the Yellow Jackets proved no match as UCLA quickly built a double-digit advantage, halfway through the opening 20 minutes.
