When Penn State steps onto the field at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, August 31, to kickoff the 2013 season against Syracuse, look for a complete reversal of trends from the start of the 2012 season.
Last fall, with the departures of running back Silas Redd and 13 other members of the Penn State football team, Bill O'Brien and his coaching staff knew the Nittany Lions' defense would have to carry the day at the beginning of the 2012 season in September.
