Highs and Lows: Virginia

PLAYER OF THE GAME The best player on the field Saturday afternoon was Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti, and his performance was nothing short of gutsy. He led the Lions with nine tackles, forcing a fumble, recovering another, and breaking up a critical third-down pass along the way.

PLAY OF THE GAME On third-and-16 from its own 22-yard line, late in the fourth quarter, a flailing Virginia team found life. Quarterback Michael Rocco scrambled out of the pocket, tossing up a desperation pass to tight end Jake McGee, who came down with the 44-yard reception despite apparent pass interference. The reception set up the Cavs' go-ahead touchdown just six plays later.
