Recruiting picking up for NY receiver
Football talent in the Empire State has been on the rise over the past few years and this year is continuing the trend. One of those prospects that holds an FCS offer is wide receiver Marcus McGill from Rochester (N.Y.) Gates Chili High School.
McGill, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds has been to Syracuse a couple times this year and last weekend he stopped by once again.
"The visit went pretty well I had a chance to see the facilities once again, I've been there a couple times already, I kind of know my way around now."
On that visit McGill was looking to find out about a scholarship offer and if the Orange were ready to offer.
"No, there is no offer not at this point, but I plan on attending camp then that way I can hopefully get it there."
An offer from the Orange is something that would mean a lot to the prospect.
"A Syracuse offer would be huge, and I'll be attending camp."
A lot of prospects hope that they can get an offer without having to show off their talents at a summer camp, but McGill is ready for his chance.
"I would defiantly like to showcase my speed, I feel like I've gained speed so for them to see it would be a great opportunity."
While he waits for his chance to perform at the Syracuse football camp he will remain in touch with his recruiting coach Tyrone Wheatley. Up to this point the player and coach have established a solid relationship with.
"I'd say our relationship is pretty good, I know he'll be at my school within the next couple of weeks hopefully ill be able to bump into him before he leaves."
Besides Syracuse McGill is also very interested in Buffalo [who has offered] and he mentioned what he likes when it comes to the Bulls program.
"I think Buffalo is a great school and defiantly looking to bring back the winning as well as in-state players."
Right now Syracuse and Buffalo are fresh on the mind of McGill, but two other schools are starting to make some moves.
"I think Akron is close to offering," McGill said. "Wisconsin, I've emailed with my recruiter from their and I've recently been getting mail from them I also got invited to camp.'
Recruiting looks to be picking up for McGill who looks to have a busy couple months ahead of him.
