Nelson Full of Jokes on Signing Day
It's hard to not empathize with recruits who run their decisions out until Saturday, sure in many cases there is some vanity involved with the fuss of public announcements. However for a player like Dallas Skyline four-star linebacker Corey Nelson his decision wasn't about bursting out of a cake wearing the colors of his future college, he simply wanted to fax a letter of intent.
The 6-foot, 210-pound linebacker admits that the last week of his decision was among the most stressful of his young life as he tried to decide between his long-time commitment to Texas A&M and the late efforts of Oklahoma.
While that effort was led by Brent Venables it's impossible to ignore the impact of Nelson's good friend, Joe Powell, upon his decision.
Which is why Nelson's lone attempt at comedy in the middle of his grinding final 48-hours prior to National Signing Day would have been cruel if it weren't so funny.
