Favre commits to Mississippi State
Record-setting quarterback Dylan Favre wasted little time accepting a scholarship offer from Mississippi State.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Bay St. Louis, Miss., picked up a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs Friday and made his commitment public following the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl.
"I talked to Coach (Dan) Mullen yesterday and he told me that he wanted to offer but I couldn't really say anything because they were having a staff meeting today and wanted to tell everybody what was going on and then make it official today," Favre said. "He told me to call him after I got done with the game and I talked to him and he offered me the scholarship."
Favre chose MSU over offers from Southern Miss and Florida International.
"I wanted to commit and I've liked Mississippi State ever since the first time I went up there," Favre said. "I was ready to commit the day they offered and my dad wanted me to wait it out to see what happens. Coach Mullen called him before he talked to me and my dad called me and said to get my stuff ready to go to Starkville if you want to."
Favre is the nephew of NFL great Brett Favre and hopes that playing for a coach with the reputation for producing quarterbacks like Mullen will give him an opportunity to shine.
